Recently found my old CD copies of Age of Empires Age of Kings, and AoE Conquerors Expansion. Downloaded it to my computer just fine, no problems at all during setup. When I went to open the shortcut the following error pops up: 'Age of Empires II Expansion has stopped working' below that heading the subscript reads 'A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.' The only option I get on this screen is to close the dialog box. After seeing this error and scouring the web this is what I've tried:
>Uninstalling and reinstalling the programs (both AoK and Conquerors Expansion)
>Running the program as administrator.
>Running this program in every compatibility mode available.
>Run in 256 colors, 640 X 480 screen resolution, Disable desktop composition
>Re-downloaded the latest version of DirectX (see spec above)
>Installed all updates available and restarted my systems more times in the last week than I have since I bought this thing.
>Was about to download and install the IPX system to run on here, but after further research that's only for multi-player (I just want to play single player)
>Clean booted my system and it still wont run (so its not an application issue?)
>Turned off my firewall and antivirus system (Microsoft Security Essentials) and attempted to run it.

Please note, this is not AoE 2 HD or the steam version. These are the OG CD's I bought in '99 / '00. So my next step is throwing my computer in the lake outside, but want to try that option last. More than willing to run any tests you guys recommend, just have to walk me through it a bit as I am slightly illiterate when it comes to computers.
